'I want her to go to school there!'

Anxious parents are often seen shepherding their reluctant teenage children around college campuses and it seems even Madonna can't bypass this particular rite of passage.
The pop star took her daughter Lourdes to scope out the University of Michigan on Wednesday, according to People.

The 17-year-old is said to be interested in the institution's musical theatre program. Her mother, who studied there before moving to New York to pursue her dream of pop stardom, has made no secret of the fact she would like her eldest child to attend the university.
'I want my daughter to go to school there,' Madonna told the National Football League Network in an interview before her Super Bowl XLVI halftime performance in 2012. 'I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place.'
The Material Girl tried to keep the focus on her daughter and stayed as low key as possible. But it wasn't long before news of their visit hit the campus.

'There was a lot of excitement,' Lindsey Meekhof, a vocal performance senior, told People.
Madonna and Lourdes toured North Campus with a musical theater major and ate lunch at one of the residence halls.

'Someone announced to my choir class Madonna was in the building, and choir wasn't productive anymore after that.'
'Madonna tried to keep the attention on her daughter but ... people were everywhere,' Lindsey added.
A rep for Madonna had no comment on the college visit.
Aside from Lourdes, her daughter with trainer-actor Carlos Leon, Madonna has three other children: Rocco Ritchie, 13, with ex-husband Guy Ritchie and their adopted son, David Banda Ritchie, 8, plus her adopted daughter Mercy Ciccone, 7.
